John Leckie is a land and resource governance professional with more than 22 years of international project experience in Europe, Africa, Central, and Southeast Asia, and South America. With expertise in land tenure regularization, land administration, geographic information systems (GIS), and community tenure and resource mapping, John is an innovator in the development and implementation of participatory approaches to systematic land registration.
With John’s technical guidance, the award-winning Rwanda Land Tenure Regularisation Support project and the Ethiopia Land Investment for Transformation program, funded by the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), registered rights to more than 25 million parcels of land. He currently provides technical advice and leadership on inclusive technology-driven approaches to securing land tenure to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Integrated Natural Resources Management activitty, and to the USAID Pakistan Land Registration in the Merged Areas Activity. John also leads DAI’s new business development in the land tenure and property rights sector.
He has worked for a diverse range of clients, including the FCDO, USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the European Union, the Pan American Health Organization, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the U.K. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and various nonprofits.
