Joe Abah to Co-Chair Nigerian Economic Summit Group’s Governance and Institutions Steering Committee

Country Director of DAI’s Nigeria office, Joe Abah, was recently nominated to serve as Co-Chair of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) Governance and Institutions Steering Committee.

The NESG is a private sector-led organization promoting free market principles, ethical business practices, and good governance. The group supports the formulation and implementation of social and economic reform programmes for the transformation of the Nigerian economy and leads research, drives advocacy, implements programmes, and hosts policy discourse events.

Each year the group hosts the Nigerian Economic Summit, a platform for public-private dialogue on the future of the Nigerian Economy—the 25th Nigerian Economic Summit takes place this October.

This appointment consolidates DAI’s 49-year experience in Nigeria’s development and corporate commitment to partner with the Nigerian government and private sector.

“I am honored to have been nominated into these important roles at the NESG,” said Abah. “My career-long interest has been about how to harness diverse capabilities and opportunities to deliver results even in the most challenging environments—and collaboration between the public and private sector is one of the ways to do that.”

Abah, has served as DAI’s Country Director in Nigeria since March 2018 and prior to that he served as Director General of the Nigeria Bureau of Public Service Reform. He has experience in governance reform and institutional strengthening, as well as a practical grounding in development management and a professional commitment to creating public value in dysfunctional environments.
