DAI is supporting EthiopiAI as part of a consortium led by FC Africa. As part of the FCDO’s commitment to harnessing responsible artificial intelligence (AI) for inclusive development, this project will identify, develop, and deploy AI solutions that improve outcomes in health and education.
The objective to ensure that the Ethiopian public will safely benefit from technologies that can improve their access to essential services and enhance livelihoods, economic outcomes, and climate change adaptation.
Cutting across the FCDO Ethiopia portfolio, EthiopiAI will provide strategic support to U.K development investments, deliver technical assistance to design and implement AI applications that deliver social impact, build the capacity of Ethiopian civil servants to integrate AI into public systems, and help develop a policy and regulatory environment that promotes ethical and sustainable AI use.
The FC Africa consortium also includes the Tony Blair Institute, the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, and Kagool. In concert with FCDO country teams, government counterparts, and local stakeholders, DAI’s role is to coordinate strategic support, communications, learning, and policy engagement, while also providing financial oversight, risk management, safeguarding, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning services.
