Nepal Tech Roadshow Builds New Links Between Nepali IT Firms and UK Market

October 01, 2026

Nepal’s growing technology sector is creating new opportunities for international partnerships, investment, and business growth.

This September, the Nepal Tech Roadshow United Kingdom brought 17 Nepali tech companies to the United Kingdom to connect with businesses, industry associations, and members of the Nepali diaspora.

Hosted by the Nepal Association for Software and IT Service Companies (NAS-IT) and co-facilitated by the Nepal in Business project—which is implemented by DAI and funded by the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office—the roadshow showcased Nepal’s capabilities in software engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud services, and digital transformation.

Through business-to-business meetings, the roadshow aimed to build direct commercial relationships; explore opportunities in outsourcing, co-development, managed services, and joint ventures; and help Nepali firms better understand the regulatory and quality expectations of the U.K. market.

For Ratish Basnyat, Team Leader of Nepal in Business, one of the most encouraging signals was the level of interest in Nepal as a technology partner.

“There is a willingness on the U.K. side to look at Nepal not just as a source of talent, but as a potential business and technology partner,” he said. “That creates an important opportunity for Nepalese companies to tell their stories better, showcase their capabilities, and turn this interest into longer-term business relationships.”

Anup Shrestha of the British Embassy Kathmandu similarly highlighted the appetite for stronger commercial links. “Throughout the week, the Nepali companies had productive discussions with U.K. businesses, industry associations, and members of the Nepali diaspora,” he said. “What stood out most was the genuine interest in Nepal’s tech capabilities and the willingness to explore new partnerships.”

Building those partnerships will require Nepali firms to compete on more than cost. Participants highlighted the importance of demonstrating a strong international track record, consistent quality, reliable delivery, data security, and the ability to contribute ideas and solve problems alongside clients.

The roadshow forms part of Nepal in Business’s wider support to the country’s IT sector. The project works with companies to strengthen investment readiness and growth, supports improvements to the business environment, and helps firms develop connections with new markets.

“The roadshow has created the initial connections and opened up conversations,” Basnyat said. “The next step is to sustain that momentum and support companies in following up on these leads, understanding market requirements, and ultimately converting those conversations into concrete business opportunities and contracts.”

For Nepal’s technology sector, the measure of progress will be whether growing international interest translates into sustained commercial relationships, investment, and greater recognition of Nepal as a trusted technology partner.
