Warwick Strong was born in Zimbabwe and spent his formative years in Southern Africa. He then joined the British Army in 1998 and was commissioned as an officer in 2000 from the United Kingdom’s Royal Military Academy. He served six years in the military, deploying on peacekeeping missions to Iraq, Kenya, Kosovo, and Kuwait. In this capacity, Warwick worked with community leaders to achieve better governance and build safer communities across a variety of cultures.

In 2004, Warwick left the military to focus on international development in the extractives industry. Over the past 10 years, he has worked for major mining companies in Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, and Mauritania, where he developed local content policies, managed local suppliers, and successfully led and implemented local business development projects. Warwick has also deployed on emergency humanitarian missions to Haiti, the Central African Republic, and Tanzania with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Doctors without Borders. Warwick continues to volunteer with the American Red Cross, serving communities in the Washington DC metro area. He is fluent in French.
