As Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Richard Hooper brings more than 15 years of research and evaluation experience to DAI. Richard began his career working for research agencies managing social and political research projects in United Kingdom before moving into international research with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. This work involved designing and managing large-scale surveys and qualitative research for strategic communications consultancies and governments.

In 2013 Richard moved into monitoring and evaluation, gaining experience of directing a number of evaluations of U.K. Department for International Development-funded programmes across a range of sectors including water, sanitation and hygiene, education, health, agriculture, and inclusive economic growth.
