James McIntyre Brown has more than 17 years’ experience at a senior management level in business development and designing, implementing, and managing donor-funded health projects. As a technical consultant and director, he has a broad spectrum of experience in supporting health market systems development; facilitation of private sector engagement in health; health systems strengthening; reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health; HIV/AIDS; access to essential medicines; institutional development; project management; fund and grant management; strategy and planning; and monitoring and evaluation in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Previously, James was Director of Futures Group Europe (now Palladium) between 2012 and 2015, providing short-term technical input and oversight across a range of programmes in health, nutrition, and HIV/AIDS. He served as Project Director on the UKaid Kenya Delivering Family Planning in Rural Kenya, and Tanzania Human Development Innovation Fund. Prior to this, he was Chief of Section for UNICEF’s Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Somalia, accountable for delivery of portfolio of Global Fund grants and strategic planning for two years. He was HLSP’s (now Mott Macdonald Health), Regional Director for Africa, leading the global health systems strengthening portfolio.
