What is TAMIS | Why
use TAMIS | Variations
What has come to be known as "TAMIS" is really a suite of databases
that have been developed to meet different project management needs. The following
represents the types of systems that are currently available. A template has
been developed for each of these variations, pulling into one place the best
practices and features being used on DAI projects around the world.
Long Term Project Management—DAI’s most basic
TAMIS supports the myriad tasks involved in work plan management, impact and
performance monitoring and project administration required of every long term
project.
Grants Management—Many DAI projects now include the
management of grant funds to support project objectives. The grant management
system helps DAI staff manage the proposal and award process, track grant disbursements
and monitor the performance of the overall grant portfolio. This system can
be a stand alone database or a module of a long term TAMIS.
Client Management—Some projects focus on developing
relationships or partnerships with, or between, specific clients. In this type
of project, the client relationships and the specific results of each relationship
become more important than the traditional project workplan for tracking the
progress of the project. The client management TAMIS helps project managers
to track exactly where they stand in the services offered to these clients and
in the results of their work in brokering relationships. This system can be
a stand alone database or a module of a long-term TAMIS.
Indefinite Quantity Contract Management—This system
tracks the status of opportunities available under an indefinite quantity contract
and facilitates the exchange of information from our office to our subcontractors
through use of TAMIS on the World Wide Web.
Voucher Administration—New to the TAMIS suite, this
system has been installed in voucher distribution centers of several new projects.
The system tracks information on vouchers distributed and redeemed by project
beneficiaries. It is used to analyze where vouchers are being most heavily used
and what services are in greatest demand.
